Assam CM Tarun Gogoi requested the Home Minister to raise the amount of ex-gratia to the next of kin of those who died or sustained injuries in the flood, enhance central assistance for damaged houses and cropped land . According to State Disaster Mangement Authority, 8,37,983 people were hit by the deluge. About three lakh of the affected people are from Kamrup (Rural) district and about 2.11 lakh people live in Goalpara district. The state government has set up 74 relief camps across the districts where 1,32,922 persons have taken shelter. Floods have submerged 80,000 hectares of crop area, besides damaging parts of NH-37 and 80 other roads in Goalpara district.
