At approximately 05:30 hours this morning, Northumberland Emergency Communications alerted our department for a structure fire in a subdivision off of Fruit Plain RD near the Village area. Automatic aid from Westmoreland Countys Cople District VFD was also alerted. First arriving POV members found a single-wide mobile home type structure with heavy smoke showing from sides A and D. This report along with an accurate address was given to the incoming units. Engine 61 with a crew of 6 arrived to find the same conditions as reported. Capt. C. Douglas lead the interior attack crew, while Capt. D. Basye established command and operated the engine. The interior crew encountered moderate fire with heavy smoke conditions in the kitchen area of the structure. A primary and secondary search was completed and there were no occupants found inside. Utilities were secured by the ground crews. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes and salvage & overhaul were completed. The occupant of the structure was on scene and should be able to salvage most of the valuables. The Red Cross will be assisting also. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were sustained during the incident. Units operating on scene: Callao Engine 61, Tanker 60, Engine 64, Tanker 62, Utility 65, Cople District Engine 3 and Tanker 3.
