At one point in my life, I wrote software programs that simulated the behavior of systems in nuclear power plants, for use in such training simulators. I was also taking courses in philosophy and mathematics in addition to my full time professional job in order to have a strong application when I applied to graduate school in philosophy and philosophy of science. It was interesting work, but I felt I was biding my time until I could become a philosopher of science, which I felt to be my true calling. I did not know at the time that the question of models and simulations would become such a salient topic in philosophy of science.
