At the 2014 National Barbie® Doll Collectors Convention, fifty lucky Barbie friends received a limited edition CD of my latest vintage vinyl audio restoration project, exclusively produced for the event. Read the CD notes below for more information on this 80s era Barbie holiday curio as well as the restoration process: While nothing could ever top the gorgeous vintage recordings Barbie Sings or The Musical World of Barbie, this 1981 vinyl-only release certainly has a distinguished place in Barbies musical discography. The recording is very much a product of its era that pre-dates Mattels first Holiday Barbie doll by seven years. The record stands as Barbies very first venture into holiday-themed musical entertainment not seen again until the direct-to-video 2001 film Barbie in The Nutcracker. In regard to the painstaking process of vintage vinyl restoration, a still sealed example of the vintage LP was located. This copy was then meticulously transferred and restored using state of the art equipment; however there were a surprising number of quality issues with both the original studio recording as well as the unfortunately low grade vinyl used at the time of original manufacturing. While these issues proved to be challenging and some unavoidable anomalies inherent to analog recordings remain, I have no doubt that the sound in this restoration is the very best quality that has ever been available to you, my fellow collectors.
