At the beginning of this year, we had 48 goats. In the past 9 months we have slowly lost 38 goats to unknown causes. Today we lost 2 more. We have been in contact with many vets, and each one of them guess at what the problem is , perscribe meds...and we still loose the goats. 2 different vets informed me that thru their entire schooling they only had a half an hour section on goats. Tara went next door to Central Seed & Supply to get a large syringe for me, so we could give a large dose of meds to what we have left. While she was there, Lamar gave her the phone number to MITCHEM-SPARKS STATE DIAGNOSTIC LABRATORY in Boaz. We called them, and got the address and information to have the 2 goats that passed away autopsyed, so maybe we can find out what is going on with them. We took them to Boaz. For 2 goats they charged us $60, which will include a Necropsy done there at the lab...then tissue will be sent to Auburn to be tested also. We should get the results from the Boaz lab in 7 - 10 days, and appx. 2 weeks from Auburn. As soon as we find out what is going on, I will gladly post it.
