At the expense of being politically correct… The Assad regime - TopicsExpress

At the expense of being politically correct… The Assad regime has murdered 100,000+ Syrians, the majority of whom are Muslim, but include individuals from various religious and ethnic backgrounds. Theyve been shot, shelled, electrocuted, mutilated, slaughtered, skinned, raped, and starved to death and the world hasnt batted an eye for the most part. But then military action takes place in an Armenian Christian village and suddenly its Save the Christians of Kessab and congressmen are writing letters hours later, non-syrians are protesting, people are outraged and demanding that we #SaveKessab, and the media, of course, is working its magic. And the cherry on top is the misinformation and ignorance…Syria is a war torn country right now, and while it sucks and is incredibly upsetting that the Armenians of Kassab had to flee a war zone, it is the same fate that the majority of those living in Syria have had to face. I just cant wrap my mind around the fact that because a region houses a specific population, it should be immune to the events of the country, much less, that the lives of the people in that region are more valuable than the lives of those in every other part of the country. Thats not to say that these individuals deserve their fate or anything of the sort, my anger is at the worlds hypocrisy (and straight up lies). I pray for a day that ALL Syrians, regardless of their religious, ethnic, cultural, political etc backgrounds can live together in peace….and for the day the world learns to care for individuals beyond the lines of identity.
