Attention, freshmen! Want to earn twenty-five bucks? Every fall, the university assesses a representative sample of first-time, full-time freshmen in terms of their entering abilities in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving and writing skills. The faculty, in turn, use the data to make improvements in these core areas. The Collegiate Learning Assessment, a nationally available assessment tool, is used to assess these skills.
