Audition Notice: Monday 19th May, 7.45pm in the bar My Boy Jack by Daniel Haig A powerful and moving play that tells the tragic story of how Rudyard Kipling sent his son to death in the First World War, triggering a bitter family conflict. Beautifully written by the well-known actor David Haig, it has wonderful parts for actors (particularly young actors) in both the major roles and the character roles. You may have seen the 2007 TV drama based on the play, with David Haig himself as Rudyard Kipling and Daniel Radcliffe as Jack Kipling. Unfortunately we couldnt get either of them - theyre a little busy - but undoubtedly our own Archway actors will do a far better job anyway! Roles: (all ages are playing ages) Rudyard Kipling - late 40s/50s Carrie Kipling, his wife - late 40s/50s John (Jack) Kipling, his son - 17 Elsie (Bird) Kipling, his daughter - 18/19 Guardsman Bowe - 20-25 Guardsman Doyle - 20-25 plus Guardsman McHugh - 20-25 plus Mr Frankland - any age from 20+ Major Sparks - any age from 25+ Col. Pottle - late 40s/50s It is possible to double-up on some parts and dependent on response this may happen!
