Autism causes du jour... The latest craze in identifying new - TopicsExpress

Autism causes du jour... The latest craze in identifying new causes or triggers to Autism is heating up today. The two that caught my attention, 1) babies who stayed in a neonatal chamber longer than others, and 2) the potential overweight of pregnant mothers. Im not a doctor nor medically trained, but I do consider myself a novice neuroscientist in training. One of my main afflictions is Aristotle Syndrome. Scratching your head yet? I came up with that label a couple of years ago during my coming out process of having Autism (ASD). In my thirst to learn everything about Aspergers Syndrome and the varieties of Autism, I stumbled upon a common trait that seems to be prevalent with some high functioning autistics and especially Aspies. That trait is thinking very logically, to the point of annoying others. And since Aristotle was considered one of the most influential and logical thinkers in history, why not borrow his name and staple it on another syndrome, Aristotle Syndrome. I tend to agree, that when one notices a series of commonalities associated with something, on the surface it does seem to be logical to apply that layer onto something else. However, there really has to be some common sense injected into the process. Therefore, in my humble opinion, these latest revelations are attempting to not shoot from the hip, but take it down a notch and shoot from the knee! To be continued...
