BCVM ANNOUNCES NOV 15 UNITY AMONG FRIENDS GALA This is an important time to recognize the service and reflect upon the sacrifices of veterans who have served our nation. Join us as we honor the important role veterans have played in history. Finding ways to continue the trend of partnerships, collaboration and increased recognition for our veterans who have served our country honorably is a top priority of BCVM. We are proud of the roles our members play in our mission of Recognizing Veterans by preservation of history through education and community involvement. It is our sincere hope that you will soar with our 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization as we continue to make progress together, and take time to fellowship as we celebrate Unity Among Friends. He served as the Infantry Company Commander 1st Air Calvary Division. Barry was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Post-Vietnam, he served as Notification Officer and Survivors Assistance Officer. Currently, Barry serves as President, TN State Council, Vietnam Veterans of America as well as President of VVA Chapter 240, where he is responsible for all activities including: fundraising, assisting disadvantaged veterans and their families, scholarship programs, Veterans Memorial Park and 3 food banks of 225 member veterans’ organizations ______________________________________________________ Asst Commissioner Mark A. Breece -Veteran Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Mark Breece is the Assistant Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs and former Senior Enlisted Leader of the Tennessee National Guard. In April 2011, Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder selected Mark Breece to serve as the Assistant Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all field offices within the thirty-three counties in West Tennessee, the field office in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery located in Memphis, Tennessee. Breece retired from the Tennessee National Guard as a Command Sergeant Major serving over 33 years of service, in order to serve as an Assistant Commissioner with the State of Tennessee. Breece is a Veteran who served two tours of duty in the Central Command Theater of Operations in support of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His latter deployment included duties of logistically supporting all units including personnel and equipment arriving into and departing out of theater. His travels while serving in uniform have carried him to several countries to include Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Kosovo, and Bulgaria to name a few. ______________________________________________________ State Senator Dolores Gresham-Veteran After retiring from the United States Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel, Senator Dolores Gresham continued her efforts to serve her country by running for public office. In 2002, Gresham was elected to the House of Representatives where she served for six years. Dolores represented District 94 which consisted of Fayette County, part of Hardeman County and South Tipton County. She was assigned to the House Agriculture Committee and to the House Education Committee both of which were her first choices. She was selected to serve as Vice Chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee. Dolores was elected Secretary of the House Republican Caucus Leadership team in 2005. In 2008, she was elected Senator for District 26 and re-elected in 2012 and now represents Chester, Decatur, Fayette, Henderson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood and McNairy Counties. She has served as Chairman of the Senate Education Committee since her first year in the Senate. She also is a member of the Commerce and Labor Committee and the Energy, Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. In the past, she has also served on the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee as well as the Senate Transportation Committee. Dolores possesses a track record of over 40 years in public and community service.
