BIMBO DARAMOLA Bimbo Daramola is a name that may not ring a loud resounding bell in the high society but his towering height, intimidating physical frame and cerebral exploits command respect on the floor of the House of Representatives, Abuja, where he holds sway as one of the most vocal representatives. With a boyish handsome look that speaks volume of a background steeped in moderate upbringing, Bimbo Daramola is as endearing to his constituents as his debates are convincing to his colleagues. This Ekiti political stalwart just added another feather to his already well decorated caps some months back when the immediate past Governor of his home state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, appointed him as the Director-General of his re-election campaign team. Honours as this do not come to under-achievers or super-sleeping pretenders but to people whose sterling qualities are so visible that the visually deficient will clearly see and his achievements so loud that aurally impaired hear. According to gists coming from the Land of Honour (Ekiti State’s appellation), Fayemi could not have gotten it better with Daramola’s appointment. Daramola, who is the chair of the panel currently probing land allocation in FCT since 2010, is reputed to have been one of the major brains behind the astounding campaign across the nooks and crannies of Ekiti State. He is said to have a massive cult-like following in Ekiti youths, who form a strong political bloc. His annual stewardship event, titled ‘Abomire’ has been reported to have benefitted thousands of his constituents and people outside his Oye-Ikole/Ekiti North Federal Constituency. Judging by the way he views and plays politics, Bimbo Daramola must be a chip off the old block. He must have been born in an era when people were the prime consideration of any political office seeker.
