BRAVES: Frank Wren was undone by multiple costly decisions: Kenshin Kawakami, Derek Lowe, Dan Uggla, B.J. Upton top the list. The jurys still out on Chris Johnson (who I think gave us more than we expected last year, and set expectations too high for his reality and crumbled under that pressure this season). A new GM will have to re-tool a rotation with Julio Teheran and Mike Minor and Alex Wood (a good start) set for next season, but so MANY variable afterward: 1. Do we try to re-sign Ervin Santana, and how costly will that be? 2. Will Aaron Harang get more expensive offers than a cash-strapped team carrying B.J. and Ugglas contract next season can offer? 3. Do they try and re-sign Gavin Floyd? 4. Whats to expect from Brandon Beachy? 5. Will the Braves make another go at Kris Medlen, post-op? Then the lineup: 1. How does the team rid itself of B.J. Upton AND any of that contract to even have the financial flexibility to replace him in CF? 2. Are Tommy LaStella and/or Phil Gosselin durable enough replacements at 2B for a team hoping to contend? 3. Will Evan Gattis and/or Justin Upton have to be traded off to get someone to take B.J. (and any chunk of his contract) as well? Someones set for a BUSY offseason.
