BREAKING NEWS !!!! HENRIETTA RUSHWAYA ACQUITTED OF ASIAGATE MATCH FIXING Former ZIFA chief executive officer, Henrietta Rushwaya, accused of several counts of match fixing in what became commonly known as the Asiagate scandal, has been acquitted of all charges by the Chitungwiza Regional Magistrates Court. In her verdict, Chitungwiza Regional Magistrate, Ms Estere Chivasa said the court concluded that Rushwaya had not concealed any transaction to her principal as alleged in the charges brought to the court. Ms Chivasa said according to the ZIFA constitution, the overall control of the local soccer mother body was vested in Wellington Nyatanga and that Rushwaya was answerable to him. She added that she was satisfied that Nyatanga was aware of every transaction, hence the accused could not be found guilty of failing to disclose a transaction to a principal. She also said if any offence had been committed, Nyatanga should have also been arraigned before the courts as an accomplice to the main charge. Speaking after the acquittal, Rushwaya’s lawyer, Mr Charles Chinyama could not be brought to disclose their intentions, electing to say they are weighing their options on the appropriate course of action to pursue.
