Back in 1992-93, the Angel was the first Big Mas Costume in the Cambridge Carnival International, alongside several Masquerade Brazillian costumes, in 1992, showing the dazzel in University Park, which was just a dirt grassy area on Sydney street, in Cambridge, MA. 1992 was the very first year of Cambridge Carnival when it was born. It was spear headed by David Martin, of the Caribbean Connection radio show, formerly of WRCA 1330 AM radio. He gathered like minded individuals, like Lynette Laveau Saxe, and others, who came on board to form a committee, they approached the mayor at that time, Kenneth Reeves, who helped the committee to get the Cambridge Carnival on its feet and walking. Theres more to the story, than what is ever told, but the Angel was there to wittness the beginings, jamborees, and many fundraisers, that helped to kickstart its birth. Now they give prizes and recognition for the costumes. They didnt even acknowledge us back then in 1992, or 1993. Things started changing by 1994-95. The committee changed, the Carnival itself, went thru its growing pains. Now it is what it is, 22 years later. Good thing There were reporters to prove that an Angel was there...
