Ballarat police are investigating a series of burglaries and thefts which occurred in Cardigan, Bunkers Hill and Learmonth area on Sunday morning. Investigators believe three motorbikes, a red 1999 Ducati ST4 and a black 1967 Velocette Thruxton and a 1925 Chaterlea motorcycle were stolen from a locked shed in Prospect Lane. A trailer was also stolen from a nearby property and police believe the thieves have attempted to use the trailer to transport the bikes. Police were alerted to the theft when an eagle-eyed local reported the trailer and one of the bikes parked in Prospect Lane around 6.25am. When police arrived a short time later they found two of the motorcycles covered by branches on the side of the road with the trailer left in the gutter approximately 20 metres away. The Chaterlea motorcycle is yet to be located.
