Barely a year to his exit from office, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has initiated a law to enable him pocket a whooping N200 million in annual pay after his tenure expires. Mr. Akpabio is also demanding other benefits including a new house, brand new cars, furniture and luxurious living for the rest of his life. The controversial law, which is known as Akwa Ibom State Governors and Deputy Governors Pension Bill 2014. Mr. Akpabio transmitted the bill to the assembly through a May 15 letter with reference number GHU/AKS/S/104/338. FELLOW AKWA IBOMITES, THE OBNOXIOUS BILL HAS BEEN PASSED INTO LAW BY THE STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY AMIDST DRAMA AT THE FLOOR OF THE HOUSE. THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE HON. SAM IKON IS A SELLOUT AND A TOTAL LET DOWN, HE HAD HURRIEDLY GONE TO THE OFFICE OF THE CHAIRMAN OF NIGERIA LABOUR COUNCIL NLC TO BEG THEM TO GIVE THE HOUSE A FEWS MORE DAYS TO DEBATE AND DO SOME RESEARCH ON THE BILL BEFORE THEY CARRY OUT THEIR EARLIER PLANED PROTEST WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO HOLD TODAY AT THE STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY COMPLEX, UNKNOWN TO NLC THE SPEAKER WAS LYING AND HAD HIS OWN PLANS, HE HURRIED WENT BACK TO PASS THE BILL. 9 HOUSE MEMBERS LED BY ONOFIOK LUKE VOTED AGAINST THE BILL, THE OTHER NINE VOTED FOR, IT WAS HON SAM IKONS VOTE THAT GAVE AKPABIO THE RIGHT TO MILK AKWA IBOM DRY THE REST OF HIS LIFE. HON SAM IKON WILL BE REMEMBERED IN HISTORY AS THE RUBBER STAMP SPEAKER WHO PASSED EVERY BILL WITHOUT QUESTIONING, HE IS THE MOST FAILED, WOEFUL AND UNRELIABLE SPEAKER EVER. Immediately after the Bill was passed, he was seen hurrying to Government House to give Akpabio the good news and collect the balance of the money that was promised him by the Governor. Let us take out time to praise and applaud those Members who stood on the side of the ordinary Akwa Ibomites to see the bill repelled. Thank you Hon Onofiok Luke and the rest.
