Bay Port DECA recently competed in the International Competition in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday May 5. Six groups competed: Lindsey McGuire(12), James Puissant(12) and Tony Cavil(12) competing in a Learn and Earn project, Jordan Stelzer(12) competing in Learn and Earn, MacKenzie Senogles(11), Carlie Ostrom(11) and Austin Samsa(12) competing in their Community Service project, Brock Schauer(12) competing in the role play for Accounting and the team of Katie Brown(10) and Morgan Jameson(11) competing in Business Law and Ethics. The 6th group to attend the International DECA Competition for Bay Port DECA was the team of Cullen Johnson(11), Nate Bodart(11) and Bryce Buchinger(11) competing in a Sports and Entertainment Promotional Plan project. Cullen, Nate and Bryce qualified for the final competition by placing in the top 18 teams out of the 150 in their event. This group was the second group in all of Bay Port’s DECA history to be qualified for finalists at the International level. The three boys wanted to choose a project that they felt a passion for and soccer was perfect. Especially with a team like the Seattle Sounders that is an up and coming force and would be easy to market. Cullen Johnson said it was really fun to come up with ways to be able to expand its brand and think of ways to make it even bigger for the future. All of the teams that made it to Atlanta, Georgia for the International DECA competition should be proud of themselves for their hard work that truly showed off during such an amazing week with some of the other top marketing kids in the world.
