Powell Named Shriner of the Month Noble Ramon T. Powell of Alee Shriners in Savannah, Ga., has been named Shriner of the Month for March 2014. The new award program, which launched in January 2014, was developed by the leadership of Shriners International to recognize those nobles who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to both the fraternity and its philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children®. Personal displays of leadership, especially by example, and consistent participation in temple activities and efforts, and/or support of the health care system, all contribute to consideration for the award. A Strong Voice in Raising Awareness Noble Powell of Lyons, Ga., became a Shriner more than 10 years ago. Since then, he has become exceedingly passionate about raising awareness and support for Shriners Hospitals for Children. He is particularly concerned about assisting in increasing patient volumes. In 2014 alone, Noble Powell has referred 14 patients to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Greenville, Tampa and Cincinnati. According to Peabody Harrell, president of the local Quint Shrine Club in Lyons, “Noble Powell is a powerful motivational speaker and consistently generates new ideas for approaches to raising awareness of each of the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children locations.” Creating New Opportunities As a representative of the Shriners fraternity, Noble Powell is committed to speaking at local schools, youth service organizations and hospitals about the mission of Shriners Hospitals. As a result of his unwavering commitment to raising awareness of the fraternity’s beloved philanthropy, Illustrious Sir Charlie Brewer, Potentate of Alee Shriners, created a Patient Acquisition Coordinator role within the temple to strengthen efforts to increase patient numbers. “Noble Powell is a wonderful example of how our nobles give tirelessly of themselves to our wonderful philanthropy,” said Shriners International Executive Vice President and Imperial Recorder Jack H. Jones. “Noble Powell provides us with an excellent reminder of the duty we all have as Shriners to supporting our beloved health care system in any way we can.” Congratulations to Noble Powell for his achievements and for being chosen Shriner of the Month.
