Its actually a fair idea as far as Im concerned, because paying people more brings more people into tax contribution and out of the tax credits and benefits system. It could cut the deficit, keep growth ticking over nicely and deal with the standard of living crisis we have in this country. The only companies that wont like this are ones who flat out cannot afford it, and those who dont want to take a hit in profits for the sake of their employees, and by making it something companies can opt in or out of it could create a labour market that gives workers a choice in who they work for, which in turn could drive up wages.
