Big news coming out of Whiskerville today! GABBY, the personable six-year-old Tortie who has been at the shelter for almost four months, was adopted as a 2-fur-1 along with HARRY, our four -year-old beautiful buff boy-child, also a long-time resident. These two engaging cats were both part of the ongoing Tale of Three Kitties promotion, and have been entertaining staff and volunteers, as well as the public, pulling out all the stops to show us what fabulous cats they are. Today a couple who own a flower shop were smitten, and Gabby and Harry have a new home. They are going to be shop kitties! There probably wasnt a better pair at the shelter for this honor. These two were usually the first to greet people when they walked into Whiskerville. We jokingly called Gabby the welcoming committee; and any lucky person who comes into the florist shop with a kitty treat in his/her pocket...well, watch out! Gabby can sniff out a treat a cat room away-- when shes sound asleep :) Give her a treat and you have a friend for life. Harry doesnt even require a treat. Hes just one of those kitties (as you might have seen in the video posted this morning) who loves to play, who loves to show off, and who ultimately, loves to snuggle. Of course, he, too is happy to accept treats, and has been known to clean up all the dinner dishes of every other cat in Whiskerville. One of our FOTAS volunteers commented that the couple adopting these two stellar kitties seemed very nice and VERY happy to have found them. As a Portland Facebook friend commented tonight: Wow! If I knew of a flower shop in Portland that had two resident kitties, Id do all my shopping there. Thats awesome! Awesome, indeed!
