Biggleswade United Under 7s v Austen Arrowheads Under 7s Biggleswade lined up against Austen today for their 4th home game this season and recorded the biggest win of their short history. Max opened the scoring with his 2nd of the season after some good passing between him and Riley then Riley set up Toby for his 1st of the day. Toby soon put Biggleswade in complete control with his 2nd. George made his 1st start of the season in goal and although he didn’t have much to do his concentration was apparent. Joseph was playing in defence and his positional play was great. Kody also looked liked he wanted to get involved early on. The 2nd quarter began with a good strikers goal from Riley when he pinched it off the opposing goalkeeper and tucked it away neatly. Toby then completed his hat trick with a great pass into the bottom corner of the net. Riley soon notched his second after some very good play from Jake. Fergus then got himself on the scoresheet for the 7th game running. The 3rd quarter began and Fergus was on fire scoring a couple of times within a minute. Toby also got his fourth and Max was looking comfortable on the ball in his best game so far this season. Joseph has really come on in the last couple of weeks and he now looks like an important member of this improving Biggleswade team. Kody took his turn between the sticks and was unlucky to concede Austens only goal of the game just as the whistle was about to go for the end of the quarter. The fourth quarter began and I think Fergus had downed all off his Lucozade in the interval as he couldn’t stop scoring and despite the appeals of the visiting fans was strong and fair on the ball, he also found time to pass the ball about. The game ended and the final score was 13 - 1 to Biggleswade. This was Biggleswades best performance of the season so far and it was pleasing that all of the boys hard work in training is paying off as this performance showed. Man of the match was between Max and Fergus but we went for Fergus as he carried on until the end despite being told he was continuously fouling by the Austen fans. However Fergus had his own ideas and very kindly handed the trophy to Max for his 1st man of the match of this season. Well done again all of you we are all very happy with the way this season is going. Thanks to the parents for your support and thanks again to Max for reffing this difficult game. Next week is away to Broadhall (Stevenage) details to follow. Lee Dyett (team manager) Update of goalscorers this season so far. Fergus 17 Jake 1 Toby 16 Joseph 0 Riley 10 Kody 0 Max 2 George 0
