He approached me asking for my name as he had some footage of me from the afternoon, from that it lead to the social net work connection. Adding each other on facebook and chatting about waves and swells. He offered to film me if any swells popped up, in which a swell in mid february did. I jumped on facebook about mid morning the day before the swell was ment to hit. I asked if he could somehow get down to mine that night and wed go from there in the morning. The next day arrived and i also had my good mate Simon Longhurst on board, we drove about an hour and half south of Wollongong and arrived to a well known reef break which we were greeted by 3-5ft waves and strong offshore winds in which Diegou was blown away by. Hed said to me that he has never seen waves that big in his life and it was a dream come true. After surfing the reef for a few hours the tides starting changing and obviously ruling out any reef break, the winds were still offshore and i knew a beach not to far away that had good banks so we quickly rushed off to go sus it out. Once again we were greeted by 3-4ft perfect A- frames blowing out both ways. At this beach we ended up spending the remaining time of the day there... coming in weathered sun burnt and feeling like dried out tomatoes it was a successful day in the salt. Diegou was continually thanking myself and Simon the whole way home and was completely blow away with what he had seen/captured in a small 8 hour window. I had the pleasure of showing Diegou around my home and a few waves i enjoy surfing which to me is always fun, but for him it was a dream come true.
