Colour red with black and white pattern; head red; antenna black; labium red with fourth segment darkened towards apex; pronotum red, with collar white, calli usually black, rarely red or intermediate, explanate lateral margins red; scutellum black; clavus red, concolorous with pronotum, corium red, with a rounded central spot of variable size, not touching inner or outer margins, membrane black with white apical margin; venter usually red, frequently with more or less extensive black pattern, posterior flange of segments of thoracic pleuron and posterior half of abdominal sternites always white, first visible abdominal sternite also with transverse whitish fascia; coxae and trochanters red, femora, tibiae, and tarsi black, femora some­times red basally. Structure. First antennal segment longer than second. Labium reaching about abdominal segment 3 or 4. White anterior collar of pronotum not extending onto explanate lateral margin of pronotum, lateral margins deeply sinuate. Scutellum impunctate. Dysdercus cingulatuswas reported to feed on several species belonging to the plant family Malvaceae as well as a few species of Bombacaceae.
