Sx Congress of the People (COPE) member Bongani Mahlangu said criticisms of affirmative action stemmed from a belief that Africans need to be ruled by “European squatters”. “So it is not a surprise when Fans Cronje comes out today and speak against a policy that seeks to create equality between the European squatters in Afrika and the Afrikan themselves (sic),” said Mahlangu. “Their message is very clear; an Afrikan (sic) can’t and should not attain any justice and or equality with a European counterpart in South Africa,” he added. Mahlangu said “Europeans” must accept that the land will only grow if it is shared amongst all who live in South Africa.
