Boy how phonebooks have changed! Todays bricks were once so small, one town could not make up a single book. This 1914 Dundee district phone book had to be made up of seven different towns: Dundee, Algonquin, Bartlett, Carpentersville, Elgin, Huntley, and Roselle. Even with all that, the page total was only a whopping 64, and that includes all the intro pages. Donning the traditional blue and white Bell Telephone colors, this book was put out by the Chicago Telephone and Telegraph division of Bell Systems. By the 1920s, Huntley was finally able to have its own phonebook, which consisted of about four pages. Here, the front cover and back cover of the 1914 book can be seen. Though this book predates anyone still around, how many here had a party line, or remember their old four digit phone number?
