Brag Basket Friday! Today I would like to start with a salute to Barbara Kemp, Roberta Bichsel and the staff of Kemps Restaurant in Clarence. You have probably heard by now that Kemps will be closing by the end of the year. I have spoken to Barbara and Roberta about the matter; yes, running a restaurant like Kemps has its challenges and may not always be profitable, but the truth is that due to age and health reasons, Barbara decided it was time to let it go. This is without a doubt bittersweet; the Kemps loved the place and treated their employees like family and it will be a tough pill for Clarence to swallow. But the fact they took a building that had sat empty for nine years and turned it into a first-class establishment for the past six years is certainly commendable, and hopefully a new owner can continue to provide fine dining in Clarence. The way I see it, they would already have a staff. It all depends on the buildings owner and what the Kemp family wants to do with the business. For now I will say the wheels are starting to turn. Thanks to Barbara and the rest of the Kemps family for six great years in Clarence! Doea anyone else have a business or person they would like to brag about this week? Please post.
