Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Well. Brace yourselves... For the past two weeks I have not been eating breakfast. At all. *collective gasp* I know, right? As a health and fitness professional I should be setting example, and doing things right, and applying what I want others to do... But heres the thing- I genuinely dont feel like having breakfast. Whats more, delaying the time I get food in my body has helped me kick myself out of an exhausted funk I was living through, caused partly by a very follow-the-rules, must-eat-every-few-hours mentality I was falling into. I can tell you this about myself without a doubt: Every single time I get sort of fixated on rules to follow, all shit hits the fan. Because my mind is on a worried, cautious, careful state all day, every moment. How healthy do you think that is? Its not. At all. And it takes self-awareness to even notice that youre doing it. The signs are there, we just have to be open to listen. So Im doing what works for me: Letting go of all rules and regulations. Its valuable to note this doesnt mean Im surviving out of chocolate and beer, either. It just means Im just eating when I feel hungry and not because I *have* to eat at certain times. And I eat the amounts I feel like eating and not a specific, complicated ratio of macros/micros. Some people thrive with rules and guidelines. Maybe thats you. You keep doing that. But some people find that strict regulations hinder their ability to listen to their body, their energy, even their creativity. Thats me. And if youre like me, take rules in moderation and give yourself times to just plain old let go and do what you gotta do. It isnt even about balance. Its about staying true to who you are, how you work, and what makes you shine. #knowthyself
