Breaking my silence regarding this: Having a good conscience, so that, WHEN you are slandered, those who revile your GOOD BEHAVIOR in Christ may be put to shame. -1 Peter 3:16 You are a fool if you try to justify the actions of our Pastor Ricky. What he did was wrong, insensitive, an unnecessary stumbling block and hence a sin. Specially for him who is an executive pastor of a celebrity mega church with a mega building. For a person in that position, he should have been more careful with his actions because people are looking. Yes, it is unfair for any group of people to make a big deal out of a costume party. But what else do you expect from unbelievers? Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. -John 15:20 OF COURSE they will treat us unfairly because they are not of God but of the world. So dont tell them to act like true Christians, because they have not been born again. EVEN SO, we should be persecuted for righteousness not unrighteousness or careless deeds. And we must: Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. -1 Peter 2:12 Dont debate these free thinkers. For us and for pastor Ricky and for Ickhoy, this is a lesson that we must live above reproach and we should not be careless with our actions. That should be our take on this and that is not just for them. it is for ALL of us. Even so, we should be to pray for our leaders, especially pastor Ricky. Therefore, our message to these critics should be the GOSPEL. not a defense for pastor Ricky. Our message should be SORRY, our pastor made a mistake and we will make sure to bring change but even our pastors make mistakes because were all sinners and so are you, youre an evil sinner too! but God sent Jesus to die for our sins. Admonition is to be made WITHIN the framework of the church. Our appeal to the world and sinners, and atheists is MISSION. We have no right or mandate to turn MISSION into admonition, unless we prioritize mission first.
