Breast cancer support group for Chinese-language speakers launches at New York Hospital Queens New York Hospital Queens The Chinese-language breast cancer support group is part of a new program to help bridge language and cultural gaps with Chinese patients. The hospital estimates the percentage of Chinese patients has jumped from 5% to 30% in the last fifteen years. NEW YORK Hospital Queens’ first breast cancer support group for Chinese language speakers is launching Nov. 21. The “Pink Ribbon,” group will help connect cancer survivors with those recently diagnosed, and offer education about nutrition and treatment of the disease. “This support group is to address issues that are common in women with breast cancer but also other issues culturally that apply to our Chinese-American population,” said Dr. Beth Siegel, the hospital’s chief of breast surgery.
