Briefing note of Hon. Younquoi on Legislative activities and some personally initiated projects as well as donations to on-going projects, during 2013/2014 Town Hall meeting in District #8, in Nimba County. His role in the execution of his statutory and non-statutory responsibilities as a Legislator A. Law Making Bill introduction: Hon. Younquoi introduced the following bills: 1. An Act to complete the formation of Government by the President of the Republic of Liberia after every General and Presidential Elections. 2. Non-Board fee Payment act, 2013. B. Advocacy/ oversight & Representation 1. Freeing of Cocopa plantation from the hands of LIBCO when it became evident that it could no longer cope with the demand of productivity ranging the farm. 2. Ensuring that in order for the merger of Planning Ministry with Finance to take place, there should be separation of the Population Policy Coordination Unit (PPCU) as well as the Revenue Department from the newly merged Ministry of Finance & Development Planning; 3. Advocacy for an increase in the allotment of scholarship funds for Nimba Students from US $ 50,000 to 100,000.00 USD per year; 4. Lobbing for increase in the allotment of resources for other Faith based institutions in Nimba, such as African Bible College University (ABCU), in addition to the Ganta Methodist Hospital and the Liberia International Christian College in Ganta. 5. Pressurizing Accelor Mittal to recondition the CNC highway which connects Nimba with Bong Counties after the road had been rendered deplorable by heavy down pool of rain following prolonged raining season; 6. Bringing on a round table the Ministry of Land Mines and Energy and the Jonah Capital exploration Company to discuss the benefit that the operation of the latter will bring to the citizens of the effected communities. Jonah Capital is a Geological company that is carrying out exploration for Iron ore in the mountain of Whenten, Kpoapa, Wallah and Gbahn Towns in Gbannah Chiefdom; 7. Working with the Nimba Caucus to have Acerlor Mittal commit herself, through a Memorandum of understanding (MOU), to undertaking additional corporate social responsibilities (i.e.) community development in the county. This has led to the construction of hand pumps and other facilities in some affected communities. Donations 1. Donation of twenty (25) bags of cement and 10 bundles of zinc to Gahnwin school; 2. Donation of twenty (20) bags of cement for Kpalla Town hall project; 3. Donation of five (5) bags of cement and one bundle of zinc for Yarsonnon Town hall project; 4. Donation of three (3) bundles of zinc and ten bags of cement for Concern Women Guest house in Karnwee ; 5. Donation of one football for Zao Kickball team; 6. Donation of two dozens of collar T-shirts for Gipo Public School Girls Social Club; 7. Donation of ten (10) bags of cement to Zahn Glehsola school and two (2) bundles of zinc to the Inland Church in the town; 8. Donation of ten(10) bags of cement for Kpeyee Town hall project in Gbannah Chiefdom; 9. Donation of two (2) bundles of zinc to Meinpea-Mah Rural Women with Headquarters in Kpein for their rice kitchen project,; 10. Donation of Two bundles of zinc for the extension of the Duo clinic; 11. Donation of twenty-five pieces of ceiling tiles for partitioning of Duo Public School’s auditorium to create additional space; 12. Complete renovation of the Kpein Inland Church at the cost of over US $ 500.00 (five hundred United States dollars); 13. Donation of US $100.00 (One Hundred United States dollars) to Gbehyi Duayee Inland Church project; 14. Donation of two Shovels, two diggers, and a wheelbarrow for rehabilitation work on the Zahn- Boie- to Duo road; 15. Donation of ten bags of cement to Zahn Gonla Baptist Church; 16. Donations of ten bags of cement to Zahn Blowee School.; 17. Forty percent payment of WEAC fees of 12th grade students of District #8 attending J W Pearson High school in Ganta, Nimba County; 18. Donation of fourteen (14) bags of cement for Torkopa school project. 19. Donation of ten (10) bags of cement for Guahn Public school; 20. Donation of eighteen (18) bags of cement to Gahnpa Public School; 21. Donation of one tiger generator each to Sokopa and Flumpa police Deports; 22. Donation of 200.00 USD to Radio Yalama in Saclepea city, Nimba County; 23. Donation of US $ 100.00 at a rally of students of District #8 attending AME Zion University in Monrovia. This is in addition to his financial aid programs around the county for district students; 24. Donation of 400 USD to Flumpa Semi High School (FSHS) Teachers whose names were deleted from government payroll; 25. Donation of 13,000.00 (thirteen thousand Liberian Dollars) to FSHS for renovation work on the school building to create space for the Senior High session; donation of 40 USD towards recent rally held at the school while pledging to lobby for funds to construct an annex to the school. To date, an amount of US $ 68,000 has been placed in the National budget for the construction of said annex. ; 26. Donation of US $ 60.00 to citizens of Dingamon Town, Garr Clan, District 2, towards a mineral water project of the town; 27. Donation of ten pieces of steel rod to Zao people for Zao Town hall project; 28. Donation of twenty-five bags of cement and US $ 200.00 worth of steel rod to Gbehyi Duayee Deala for a Guest House project in town; 29. Donation of 40 plastic chairs to Bunadin for their town hall; 30. Donation of 25 plastic chairs to the Flumpa for hall; 31. Re-painting of the Flumpa Peace Hall during the funeral service of the Late Jefferson N. Kpayelee (Nya Pentap); 32. Awarding of scholarship to students of District #8 valued over 500,000 (five hundred thousand Liberian Dollars) for semester 2013/2014; 33. Donation of US $ 250.00 (two hundred & fifty United States dollars) to Burtein school construction project; 34. Donation of Liberian flags to Clan and paramount chiefs of Leewehpea & Meinpea-Mah Administrative District; 35. Donation of $14,000 (fourteen thousand Liberian Dollars) to Leewehpea Concern Rural Women for arm chairs for Flumpa Day Care Center; 36. Donation of US $ 100.00 to Gbehyi Loleahwon Organization towards the re-payment of one motor bike that got damaged during the riot that occurred at the 2012 football tournament held in Tengbein by the organization. Personally initiated Projects a. Construction of a six-room Elementary school in Quoipa, Lao chiefdom. Though only zinked to date, the building has already begun to be used by students of the town. A local NGO recently buttressed and efforts by donating 50 bags of cement and 2 bags of white wash. b. Completion of Elementary school construction in Leegbanla/Mongbain, Lao chiefdom; c. Construction of a four-room annex to the Dahn Gborwin Public School in Gbahn Town, Gbannah Chiefdom; 4. Renovation of the Guest House at the Paramount chief compound in Karnwee, Leesonnon Chiefdom; 5. Construction of six hand pumps in Tinshue, Gilipa and Sokopa in Lao; Dian and Gipo in Gbannah and the rehabilitation of several others in 25 communities across Districts #8 and #7 in the county (i.e. Saclepea Mah); 6. Construction of a Bus Stop at the CNC interception between Gbahn and Kpoapa towns on the Ganta-Saclepea Highway. Proposed Project to be carried out in collaboration with the citizens. 1. Construction of an annex to the Kpoapa Elementary School, Gbannah Chiefdom, Nimba County; 2. Construction of Sehwee Elementary School, Gbannah Chiefdom, Nimba County; 3. Construction of a Development Planning and Youth Resource Center in Gbanna. Government of Liberia (GOL) projects in District #8 (Funding are made through Acerlor Mittal social development fund to Directly Affected Communities. 1. Bunadin Guest house project(completed awaiting dedication) 2. Duo Guest house project(completed, awaiting dedication) 3. Gbahn Guest house project(nearing completion) 4. Road rehabilitation from Duo to Zahn Bahnla using the county road works machines. GOL proposed projects as part of the Directly Affected Community projects 1. Kpoapa Town Hall project; 2. Gipo Township Commissioner compound construction. Legislative Earmarked Projects 1. Construction of Bendin clinic Annex using the annual US $ 25,000.00 budget allocation in the National Budget; 2. Construction of over US $ 68,000.00 annex to Flumpa Semi-High School.
