Brijesh Mehra, Royal Bank of Scotlands new India chief, learned to build relationships through chewing gum. He did his schooling in erstwhile USSR, where his father was the defence attache. He made friends by sharing chewing gum with them. Chewing gum was hard to come by in the country then and his friend circle expanded. The experience taught him the importance of relationships in personal, and now, professional success.
