Bring Own Canvas Event Sept. 7, 1-4 p.m. JADE gallery welcomes local painter Anthony Martino, who will be performing live painting on site. Stop by with a blank canvas and watch Anthony Martino create a unique painting for take home at the cost of just $20 per painting. Live painting will take place on the front lawn of the Diplomat Building, weather permitting, otherwise Martino will be painting inside the gallery. A number of his paintings will be on display and for sale as well. Martino is a modern artist that primarily paints abstract acrylic paintings on canvas. He has been painting for about 12 years and has sold his work both nationally and internationally. As an artist, he paints in what he calls “the intuitive style of painting,” where he allows the moment and his feelings to help orchestrate his artistic compositions. Martino has gained notoriety within the art community in Northeast Ohio with his live painting performances at various art venues, restaurants and civic art demonstration shows throughout Cleveland. Recently, Martino has been featured on the Emmy awarding arts and culture show Applause on WVIZ PBS where he did an interview about his art and a short filming of him in the creative process. This show will be aired in October 2013. As of this year, Martino has been painting live for about four years and has greatly enjoyed it. By painting live in front of others, he feels he is able to make a unique and intimate artistic connection with others and his art.
