British Museum Collection: Old photo of Dhaka, 1827 Fishermen on boat catching fish at Buriganga river. I was born and raised in Dhaka, so is one of my parent and great grand parents. Dhaka used to be a very beautiful city. I remember, in 1950s and 1960s Dhaka. When, Municipal corporation used to have street sweepers to sweep the street of Dhaka followed by water truck that washed the street during very hot days when there was too much dust on the air. Gulistan, Bailtul Mukkarrum and Stadium was considered New Town. Dhanmondi started to get develop from mid 1950s. There was so many different and exotic trees, birds and most importantly clean air in Dhaka. I think 4th photo is the oldest of Dhaka taken from a camera of Rothkhola 1870? (can someone correct me) I will be posting few more photos of Dhaka soon.
