But lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth - TopicsExpress

But lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through or steal. ( Matt. 6:20) If we faithfully take up our cross in our daily walk & keep our eyes focused on the final goal of Heaven, JESUS promises that our faithfulness to HIM will be eternally rewarded when we finally stand before the Throne of GOD. The writer of the book of Hebrews reminds believers of the true value of the eternal treasures and rewards awaiting those who remain faithful. For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in Heaven a better and an enduring substance. (Hebrews 10:34). Millions of believers have sacrificed their possessions, their employment, their homes & their freedom rather than deny their faith in JESUS CHRIST. . . . A LONGING FOR HEAVEN : Who seeks for Heaven alone to save his soul, May keep the path, but will not reach the goal; While he who walks in love may wander far, Yet GOD will bring him where the blessed are. This poem by Henry van Dyke reminds us that GODS nature is characterized by pure love & mercy toward those in need. GOD measures and rewards our spirit in terms of the love we possess & manifest to those around us. If we do not express love to our fellow human beings by sharing with them our faith, our assistance, and our possessions, it is because the love of CHRIST has not yet penetrated our heart. While Heaven often seems so distant due to the constant distractions of our daily life, GOD has implanted a supernatural longing for our heavenly home within the heart of every man or woman who freely yields their spirit to HIM.. . . This longing was expressed by Paul Lawrence Dunbar: There is a Heaven, for ever, day by day. The upward longing of my soul doth tell me so. This profound yearning expresses something far beyond our earthly perceptions and has the power to transform our spirit.... William Shakespeare wrote, The love of Heaven makes one heavenly. . . . Martin Luther, the great reformer who was instrumental in returning the Body of CHRIST, the true Church of GOD, to its true foundation based on the changing doctrines revealed in the Holy Scriptures, often expressed this deep longing of Heave. The Reformer wrote about his appreciation of the true value of GODS heavenly promises: I would not give one moment of Heaven for all the joy and riches of the world, even if it lasted for thousands and thousands of years. ~ Grant R. Jeffrey ( JOURNEY INTO ETERNITY )
