By: Trio Animal Foundation ELSA UPDATE 7/15/14: Even though Elsa still acts defeated, something deep inside must be telling her to hold on. She is still extremely lethargic and cant sit up for very long without collapsing into whomevers lap is closest. If you are not near her, she will just let her head hang down low and shut her eyes. It is truly one of the most depressing things to witness. The next two weeks are going to be very challenging for our girl. Since she is so painfully thin we have to be very concerned about parvo and will be prophylactically treating her with medication to help maintain the integrity of her digestive tract with supplements and antibiotics. She will be fed special, bland meals along with several vitamins to help provide support to her system. We also have to keep a close watch to be sure she doesnt developed pneumonia or any other upper respiratory illnesses. The stress of being in shelter combined with the exposure to a variety of illnesses can be awfully hard to handle for an emaciated dog like Elsa since she has no reserves to fight off any infections. When we left Elsa tonight, she was sleeping soundly curled up in a in a soft comforter. Unless something happens, I will post Elsa’s next update Thursday evening after her ultrasound. Please continue to keep Elsa in your thoughts and prayers… thanks.
