By now everyone here on FB as well as in real life knows that music is my LIFE. Whether Im listening to it or creating it or performing it or writing about it, every single day of my life has been intertwined with music--since birth. In 198whatever, when my dad randomly brought home the debut album by The Family, I was immediately hooked on the band. Of course a huge part of it was the Prince factor, but each member of the band is simply golden in his and her own right and I spent hours studying the album, the sounds. I am so excited that now, as Fdeluxe, theyre not only releasing new music but that Susannah Melvoin is getting to showcase her incredible musical sensibilities front and center. Id never heard We Float before AM Static, and my gawd this song rides with me in so many ways--from the vocals to the dark and moody instrumentation (Eric Leeds sax never fails to send me swingin) to the lyrics and imagery.
