The answer has something to do with globalisation, 3rd world exploitation, the rise of China and the general denial on some level by all world powers as to the extent of danger we can expect from climate change into the next 3 or 4 decades.) They aint gotta kill YOU, but the human cost attributed to your life alone will nevertheless be huge, trapping you in an endless cycle of lowness and bad feeling. The less we attribute our existence to the suffering of others, the less we suffer ourselves (assuming all other human needs are met). It is that simple.
