CAMFT and AAMFT-CA join forces to end long BBS waiting times! CAMFT and AAMFT-CA have joined forces to put an end to the excessive waiting periods clinicians must endure to become licensed LMFTs here in California. We have heard from educators, supervisors, students, interns, and clinicians and they are fed up with the excessively long waiting periods to get licensed. While the Governor has granted additional staffing to the BBS, and this will alleviate the problem in the short term, history has shown us that this is a long term and reoccurring problem. The process here in California is long, complex, and expensive--this needs to be changed. Over the next few months, we will be taking a joint in-depth holistic look at the training and licensure process and how it can be improved. We hope to develop specific policy recommendations that can make the road smoother, while maintaining high standards.
