CAN NIGERIA BE FREE FROM ETHNIC SCHISM? Yes! Thats a major - TopicsExpress

CAN NIGERIA BE FREE FROM ETHNIC SCHISM? Yes! Thats a major problem with our nation. Ethnic madness! But any way forward? Sincerely, I dont see any! Sorry for sounding malevolently pessimistic. I cant see any way forward. We will never be united on our own. In fact, the schism will be increasing as the time goes by. But well succeed in the end. Have I contradicted myself? No! Heres my theory. Theres a natural process that has kicked in & it will work in a country like Nigeria. Nigeria is not a biethnic or a triethnic nation. So despite the increasing ethnic schism, the nation wont break up. Nigeria breaking up isnt so straightforward bcos of the multiethnic nature. Our extreme religiosity which though works against us, also provides us with extreme cushion against pro-separationist proclivities. The schism will keep increasing till it reaches the climax & break down under gravity. It will reach a self-destructive dimension. It would get to irritating, unbearable levels that it peters out naturally. I foresee the event happening in our generation. Say in the next 40 years. Im predicting a generational paradigm. A new crop of Nigerians would emerge from the confusion. They would be extremely worried about the state of their nation & consequently drop or tone down their tribalism. The group is emerging already. Marriages are getting more reckless amongst youths nowadays. I ended up marrying an Ijebu. Marrying an ijebu is a taboo in my part of Yorubaland & pls for the sake of social media, let me spare u guys the details. But I persevered & conquered in the end. My brother-in-law, an ijebu man, later ended up marrying from south-south. Thats the emerging generation! The generation of Facebook & twitter! Natural selection would make that specie proliferate. They would fare better than those stuck in the past till the meme predominates. Then the ethnic schism would disappear into thin air. Folks like Fani Kayode would go into extinction. Then Nigeria would become a United States of Nigeria where ethnic nationality would only be of historical importance with very little operational power. Did I say no way forward? Yes! Bcos its not in our powers. Its something that would happen naturally without our cooperation. Its a self-perpetuating cycle. More like saying water shall find its levels Its my theory. I hope it happens the way Ive opined
