The news conference will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 1000am at the future home for Carbondale Community Arts located at 304 West Walnut Street in Carbondale. After acquiring the building that served as the Carbondale Public Library to create a permanent home for the arts in Carbondale, CCA is pleased to announce its public fundraising campaign Almost Home. The building purchase in March of 2013 was made possible by an extremely generous gift from an anonymous benefactor. CCA President Gary Kolb indicated numerous generous financial commitments and in-kind contributions have already been made, and the Campaign Coordinator, Carolyn A. Snyder, is proud to say that: the Almost Home campaign has already reached 50% of its fundraising goal. Champaign co-chair, Dr Marsha G Ryan, expressed great appreciation that so many community members and businesses have already shown their support, and added : We welcome anyone who is interested in making a contribution to the arts in Carbondale; gift opportunites are still available to help us complete what will be a community treasure. Executive Director, Nancy Stemper, is excited about the propects that the restored building will bring and has stated : the new location will facilitate collaboration with the City of Carbondale and the Varsity Center for the Arts in downtown Carbondale, and will secure a presence for the arts in the community for many years to come.
