CARLO ZECCHI (1903-1984), was one of the last students of Busoni. When Zecchi first met the great Florentine titan of the piano with a letter of recommendation, Busoni asked the young boy what Bach he can play for him: Z: A prelude and fugue. B: What else? Z: Well..... another prelude and fugue? B: Ahhhhh! Italians only play Preludes and Fugues! Next week, play for me the Goldberg Variations. Here, Zecchi plays four Scarlatti Sonatas. The clarity and technical finesse of Michelangeli, with perhaps some more sunny warmth. Dont miss the D Major Sonata (from 6:03) - like youve never heard it before.
