CF-101B Voodoo, ready to go in an alert shack. The aircraft was an impressive performer and served very well before eventually being replaced by CF-18s. Since Voodoos would often repel snooping Soviet Bear reconnaissance aircraft over the Arctic, it is worth pointing out that its twin-engine design, two-man crew and generous fuel capacity (meaning good time-on-station) shouldve served as guidelines for ANY front-line combat aircraft flying for Canada. Why Peter MacKay ignored the obvious and went with the profoudly-unsuitable F-35, which has NONE of these desirable attributes for as long as he did, is a mystery to me.
