CFIA was in today to notify me that our cold smoked salmon is supposed to be packaged in a vacuum seal bag that has a higher oxygen permeability than the ones we currently use. This ONLY applies to the cold smoked salmon. All our other products, including hot smoked salmon are supposed to be packaged in the food-safe bags that we have been using and will continue to use. After a few calls, I found a supplier in Moncton that sells the bags we need and we will begin using them immediately. The bags that we were using do not meet their requirements and if anyone has a package in their freezer or fridge, feel free to bring it back for a full refund or replacement. We work with CFIA on a regular basis to make sure that all our products and procedures are safe. If anyone has any questions, feel free to post or message me. Also feel free to share this status.
