CHARON LOWANG CROWNED MISS TIRAP 2014. Deomali > 22nd Nov, Charon Lowang of Wasathong village was crowned Miss Tirap 2014 from amongst 18 (eighteen) participants. Miss Binny Sawin bagged the 1st runners-up while Miss Kampo Akhang the 2nd runners- up . Earlier, while speaking as the chief guest on the occasion Ms Aparna Nayar lauded the effort of the organisers and said that the beauty contest showed the spirit of the womens power. She said that the women are not only home makers but nation builders adding that without the active support of women no nation can rise. She also thanked main sponsor Hindustan Unilever Limited. The representatives of the HUL appealed all to be involved in the project Shakti which is working for uplift of the rural populace, especially women. The programme was organised by womens society of deomali in collaboration with the 1st Assam Rifles. Miss Tirap 2014 Charon Lowang was crowned by the chief guest amidst huge gathering. Popular singers from Tirap and Assam Rifles Orchestra group enthralled the huge crowd. Commandant 1st AR, SDO Deomali and a host of others attended the beauty pageant and the contest.
