CHASIC. So first up, biggups to TODDLA T for running this on Radio 1 last night... Bit of a weird one this tune, in the sense that when I was writing it, I was feeling super bummed out on it - I think Id wanted to write another #bangor but instead just seemed to be coming out with a load of moody minor chords. I love dub techno, so I decided to go with that vibe and gradually, a kind of jungly halfstep tribute to Rhythm & Sound / Deepchord emerged. Feeling like Id made an utterly pointless piece of music, I sent it to Kasra, who called me straight away saying he loved it and it HAD to go on the EP - and Im really glad we put it on there, cos Ive grown to love it, it sounds great out and a bunch of people have said its their favourite tune on there :) Production wise, theres comparatively few layers of stuff in here, but I spent a fair bit of time running everything through the desk to get extra hiss and lofi sounds (hiss being vital to dub techno), and then also went through and did loads of automation, sending different drum loops to various delays, filtering and rhythmically shifting the chord, and so forth. Basically, trying to get a lot out of a little - kind of the essence of techno in a way. Fun fact - I think technically, the chord is in a completely different key to the bassline, but it seems to work, so bun ya music theory, rah!!!
