CIBC started with ten pigs as a donation by the National - TopicsExpress

CIBC started with ten pigs as a donation by the National agricultural services (NAADS) in 2010. The pig sty was a temporally house made of poles and timber off cuts this caused a lot of losses as they would brake their legs with time as they continued to attain heavy wait. The project sustained its self through selling the pigs for pork to the local butcher men and the sale of piglets to the local farmers. There were a lot of challenges as pigs were staying in the land far way from any source of water, land was hired and generally food was expensive partly due to transportation costs. Our grate friends from the USA continued to support the project with small donations for purchasing food. In 2012 the same friends donated money to avail gravity water to the pig project, purchase land construct project store and offices, build strong houses for the pigs and the project started taking a new shape. CIBC also started mushroom farming and training project in the same year and many more life transforming projects communityinitiatives4.wordpress/ are yet to kick-off. In 2013 the project was supported by Rufford small grant for nature conservation and the project is expanding. A breeding program is going on so that as CIBC train people from the community then after training, they will be given start up piglets. It is also in our plan that CIBC will help these farmers through purchasing the pigs and piglets in the near future as they reproduce. This will help to increase farmers income through selling their products to CIBC at around table agreed price. With this strategy it is our hope that poverty and hunger will reduce and hence reduced threats to protected area encroachment, poaching and diseases.
