Last night, or should I say morning, depending on when your day breaks, the normally quiet Komarock estate residents were awoken by loud bangs and shouts as a gang of cops invaded to flush out illegal residents. Finally. Apparently, they had earmarked houses occupied by members of the Somali community, whose gates they banged, kicked and gun butted as some of us watched from our partially uncovere...d windows in horror. One by one, the target gates were closed as soon as the officers were done without a single arrest, contrary to expectations. So in the real morning we gather at the open grounds to catch up with the nights raid. The cops were asking for CASH 4 - 7K, the Somalis tell us. Even for those with papers allowing them residence, the cops were not interested. They wanted money. Thats how cheap your country is Kenyans. And top cop David Kimayio wants me to believe that my car window tint is a security threat. Someone tell both Kimayio and ole Lenku to take action on the cops sent to Komarock last night, otherwise they should resign in public interest.
