COUNTERFEITERS DEVOUR HERCULES EVERYWHERE – 2 of 2 - To introduce legitimacy of genuine parts ,U.S. military’s is trying to prevent counterfeit goods from infiltrating their supply chains by embedding them with strands of botanical DNA. Botanical DNA signatures genomes coating can be applied to printed circuit boards , microchips and routers. After embedding , the DNA strand can be detected with handheld scanner which instantly spots the DNA strand, or by standard forensic analysis (CFSL & SFSL). Therefore , genuineness can be tested at every stage of supply. However, tampering is always possible to mimic holograms or erase off a computer chip’s label. Bogus DNA makes a perfect copy of the original. Or tampering the complex sequences of base pairs that comprise a single DNA strand may also be possible. However ,before DNA tags become the anti-counterfeiting tactics of the future ,its implementation entails a lengthy process, thereby, giving more time to phonies plenty of time to master their technologies for making bogus botanical DNA. The researchers in US claims that the error rate for ‘ false positives ‘using the patent DNA technology is 1 in 1 trillion. A $100 microchip might keep a $100 million dollar helicopter on the ground, claimed by Haywards a molecular biology specialist. He further states that DNA is beyond what the phonies can replicate Entry of Counterfeits through visual inspection/ X-Rays or other analogues may be possible .
