COUNTY TO SET UP YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP By Joshua Chesire Baringo County Government will soon establish a scholarship fund for students who will be joining technical colleges. The county assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a motion sponsored by Barwesa ward MCA Hon. Joseph Makilap. The motion seeked to compel the county government to set aside Ksh 2 million per ward to sponsor 30 youth undertaking technical courses in vocational institutions. I am deeply concerned that majority of the youth in the county are engaged as casual labourers as they lack skills to take up more competitive jobs, said Makilap. MCA Makilap added that he will effectively empower the youth to benefit from opportunities as and when they arise. He cited the ongoing oil explorations by Tullow and power generation by Geothermal Development Company (GDC) as some of the opportunities that the youth can benefit if they are properly trained.
