CPF Life is compulsory for people reaching age 55 now. They have to choose between the standard or the basic plan. I have often been asked, is it a good plan? I used to reply, yes, but my reply now is uncertain. It is better that people be given a choice to remain on the retirement account, rather than be compelled to join CPF Life. For myself, I opt to remain on the retirement account. CPF life is another scheme that is badly designed and badly implemented.
